NGO Renewal Fees in Uganda
Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with the NGO certificate renewal fees in Uganda? They seem to be quite a lot for the size of charity we are and it often seems paying just to get someone to sign something. Do other people have this same problem?

Thanks

My question would be whether you really need to be an NGO in Uganda? If you are a UK registered charity, why not just stick at that?
Are you registered as an 'international NGO' or as a 'local NGO'?
Is there a local Ugandan NGO which you partner with?
It is a lot simpler to stay away from NGO registration..
Uganda is monitoring NGO's a lot. They are also taxing everything that moves so as to develop revenue streams.
High charges for NGO renewal are paying for the system which checks NGO's.
It may be worth a re-think on how you are operating?

Hi Ian,

Thanks, we are not a UK registered charity. It's an organisation set up by a Ugandan and registered in Uganda. Though perhaps it's worth considering become a UK registered charity instead? As we are having a lot of problems with these NGO checks.

It's a big task to register as a UK charity.

I'm seeking some more facts re the cost of NGO and CBO renewals.

My email address is iansand12@gmail.com if you would like to have a discussion about this then make contact.
