PRIVACY POLICY


At Uganda Networks we collect different types of information from our members and users for the following main reasons:
  1.  To provide a useful resource in the form of a searchable online directory of organisations and projects.
  2.  To provide an interactive web site where email is used to communicate with the members and users.
  3.  To provide a security mechanism whereby we can restrict content and access to facilities on the website to members.
  4.  To make available to members and users documentary resources and weblinks which we consider to be useful, which are in the public domain, and which we have permission to use.
  5.  To help us to improve the service we offer.

Our principles

We are absolutely committed to protecting your privacy. Our policy can be summarised in one sentence: we will not share your information with others without your consent.

We have established the following two principles:
  1. We will respect your email privacy. You will only receive email from Uganda Networks in connection with your membership of the site, or listing on it, or because you have asked to be kept in contact.
  2. We will not share any individual user details (including your email address) with any third party without your consent, except insofar as contact information provided by members for their own organisation and their partners for publication in the directory is provided with permission for public access

What information do we collect?

We collect information from and about our member organisations and their partners when they apply for membership, and when they subsequently update the information they have provided.

The information we request is set out in the online membership application forms, and members complete the forms on the understanding that this information will be published in the site directory, and is searchable by all users.

We collect information from suppliers who wish to list their services on the site.
The information we request is set out on the online application form, and suppliers complete the form on the understanding that the information will be published on the Services page and is searchable by all users.

We collect information from individual users who wish to remain in contact with us.
We will only collect name and email address for the purpose of sending periodic email newsletters. We will not share your information with any third parties.

Who will have access to your information?
You have control over who is able to access specific items of information. Information relating to your organisation, such as payment information and personal contact details not provided in your directory entry will only be visible to the administrators of the Uganda Networks site.

What else you should know about privacy
When you are accessing the members’ area as a registered member, remember to close your browser when you have finished your session. This is to ensure that others cannot access the parts of the site restricted to members if you share a computer with someone else or are using a computer in a public place like a library or Internet cafe. You as an individual are responsible for the security of, and access to, your own computer.

Please be aware that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information over the Internet that this information can be collected and used by others. In short, if you post personal information in publicly accessible online forums, you may receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return. Ultimately, you are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of your usernames and passwords and any account information. Please be careful and responsible whenever you are using the Internet. Our pages may contain links to other websites, and you should be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices on other websites.
